I decided to do a name change on my primary character and a new appearance. Little did I know, it was a fatal mistake. Since all the elite sets of armour and weapons are customized to my old name. I can no longer use any of the armour or weapons I have gathered over 4 years. They still show in my HOM thank God. But I can no longer use them. I am totally naked now with no armour or weapons. This after spending $14.99 and then $9.99. I am so mad. I quit. I can so slap myself right now for being a fool.

Awesome - I think maybe Anet should have caught that one and maybe forewarned people or made it so that you can still use all your stuff.

Ugh. I just took it upon myself as a GWG bug tester to try this. I thought it was just a sad trolling attempt, but $15 later, I know it's not.

This really, really bites. Especially considering how they diverted resources from other departments in order to make sure this update worked properly.

I'm not sure I understand what's so different between this situation and having to change your name due to a temp ban - I know for a fact that Ben Mcgee is currently using the armor and equipment of Bunghole Mcgee with no problem. I believe everybody in this thread, especially now that Theocrat has checked and confirmed - but I still don't get it. Sorry to hear for your losses.

Any tech guy want to explain to me how the programming for this is different?

Well i changed the name of my warrior too, and i still can equip my elite armours and weapons, haven't done the complete makeover yet because i can't get in the ncsoft store. A guildie of mine did the same and it works for him so.
